OK, so in our last ditch attempt to get a family picture with the Gates - Mitch, FTM and I spent a cold Sunday afternoon in the park searching for anyone who looked like they could operate a simple point and shoot camera. It didn't really pan out - we have some badly framed, badly lit shots that aren't really up to snuff for framing and hanging in the living room. (Damn, I'm going to have to give up my saffron-themed decorating plans.)
We did, however, see a small gathering of people under a bridge that we thought looked like a wedding. Here's a picture.
And here's another.
I didn't really think anything of it, you see weird stuff like this everyday, right. Well, it was a wedding - it got picked up by the Times wedding annoucements. Again, no big whoop - lots of people's weddings get picked up by the Times, here's my friend Lee. But then - it got written about on Veiled Conciet. There you have it. We were witnesses to history. Or at least comedy.

Thanks for the follow-up to my post. I had no idea they had Tibetan prayer-flags there.
Happy belated birthday.

I think the Tibetan prayer flags-as-crowd-barriers is particularly obnoxious and telling. No doubt they thought they were being mystic and worldly. Jerks.

In deference to a very good friend of mine who attended the Zises’ wedding, I will, partially hold my tongue... However, I still have NO idea why these two merit a story in the Sunday edition of the NY Times and a continuance via Blog.com!?
I’ve met "Z.Z." twice! Each time he unexpectedly attended parties in my home. Our second acquaintance resulted in him getting piss drunk, and breaking a Waterford crystal candlestick holder! Of course he hastily bailed the party without offering to pay for the damage!
I have never met his new wife, but I am sure that she’charming in her own bent, neo-left wing meets ultra-right wing conspiracy theorist sort of way.
Despite my consternation, I do wish the two of them good luck with their marriage. And remember kids, the toughest year of marriage is the one you're in.
P.S. Hey, “Z.Z.”, maybe you could find me a replacement Waterford crystal candlestick holder in one of your spontaneous antiquing excursions! Thanks…
